07 Apr Solarize Midcoast Maine Program Launched for 2017

Rockport Launch Event April 19

The Midcoast Economic Development District (MCEDD), in partnership with Sundog Solar is pleased to announce another Solarize Midcoast Maine program. “The response to last year’s program was very good!  We were able to save folks money on their solar projects and as a result, we are offering another round of great Solarize pricing for this coming construction season” Sundog co-owner Chuck Piper remarked. Solarize Midcoast Maine provides residents with a “group buy” discount of approximately 10% on solar power installations. You can learn more about the program at www.solarizemidcoastmaine.com. MCEDD Executive Director Jeff Kobrock explained, “we had a great response to our public education efforts last year, and numerous Launch Events were full-house audiences.”

The first of four 2017 Launch Events is scheduled for April 19 at the Rockport Opera House. All Launch Events will start at 6 pm and offer an educational discussion for those interested in learning more about solar power. There will be a significant time for one on one consultation with solar experts after the informational presentation. Other Launch Events are scheduled for April 26 at the Bath City Hall Auditorium, May 3 at the Topsham Library and May 10 at Rockland City Hall.

Although there was some uncertainty about solar “net metering” policy in Maine during 2016, the PUC has recently reaffirmed a commitment to net metering policy making now a great time to purchase solar equipment. Net metering allows homeowners to sell excess power back to the electrical grid, making solar installations even more affordable.

The deadline for sign-ups with the Solarize Midcoast Maine program is June 30.
