Solar Products & Services

At Sundog Solar, we believe in giving each solar customer the time and attention they deserve. We customize every solar energy system for your property, and we do not take a cookie cutter approach.

Solar energy products

Sundog Solar is dedicated to using some of the best solar equipment on the market. We can install several brands of solar panels, inverters, and other components depending on your needs, goals, and budget.

For example, some solar panels work more efficiently in lower light conditions. If your roof is partially shaded, we can take this into account. Other homeowners want a solar system with a sleek appearance and a longer manufacturer’s warranty, and then we recommend the Solaria panels.

Solar Panels

Solar panels contain solar cells that generate an electrical current when in contact with sunlight. The Sundog Solar team installs several different brands of solar panels, including Canadian Solar, Hanwha Q-cells, LG Solar, and Solaria products.

Solar Inverters

These units convert direct current (DC) output from the solar system into alternating current (AC) power that is accepted by most household appliances, electronics, and the utility grid. Sundog Solar installs Outback, Enphase, Schneider Electric, SMA, and SolarEdge inverters.

Solar System Batteries

Batteries are a key component for off-grid and systems with battery back-up. Sundog Solar offers batteries from two reputable companies: Rolls and Trojan™ Battery Company, the manufacturers of the world’s most trusted deep cycle batteries. These durable and reliable batteries serve a broad range of demanding applications.

Unlike many battery companies, both Rolls and Trojan™ Battery Company offer a 5-year prorated warranty. We also educate customers about battery maintenance to preserve the lifespan and optimal function of your solar batteries. Learn more about battery maintenance from the Trojan Battery GuideRolls Battery Manual.

How Solar Energy Works

Photovoltaic (PV) panels transform sunlight into electricity. To use this technology for your home or business, you need a basic system comprised of the following:

  • Solar panels: generate DC (direct current) electricity.
  • Inverter: changes DC to AC (alternating current) power, which is used in most homes and businesses.

DC and AC Power

The DC current in each of the cells is combined into one central circuit. DC power can be used in many mobile applications such as in an RV, boat, or to charge batteries.

Homes and businesses use alternating current (AC) electricity. Once the power is converted by the inverter, it can then be used by appliances, lights, and electrical devices. With these basic components, you can generate electricity and feed it to your household circuits as well as send any excess electricity you make back to the grid for full retail credit.
