Sundog Solar office and shop is located on Route 1 in Searsport, Maine between downtown Searsport and Stockton Springs. Our office and shop are across from Angler’s Restaurant (Searsport) west of Sears Island Rd. We are approximately 10 minutes east of Belfast, 40 minutes west of Ellsworth, 40 minutes south of Bangor, and an hour east of Augusta.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage procurement efforts and negotiate Purchase Orders for key equipment, i.e. modules, Inverters, racking systems, energy storage systems, and all electrical supplies
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers at various levels to create leverage to achieve and maintain favorable terms, pricing, and lead times.
  • Receive and verify accuracy of deliveries checking for damaged product
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts
  • Coordinate materials for multiple crews daily
  • Communicate with other employees to coordinate warehouse activities, such as material requirements
  • Manage and track the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) procedure
  • Ensure all vehicles receive required repairs and preventative maintenance
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Ensure upkeep of all facilities and all OSHA requirements are met or exceeded

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four-year college degree preferred
  • 3 years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
  • General knowledge of supply chain management and procurement, as well as construction principles and processes.
  • Warehouse & procurement experience required
  • Excellent organizational skills and problem-solving skills
  • Personnel management experience
  • Forklift experience is required, certification is a plus
  • Inventory management systems experience
  • Superb attendance
  • Solar experience a plus
  • Must be able to upload documents, navigate CRM, and send emails
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Willingness to take on extra responsibilities when possible and be a team player
  • Ability to learn QuickBooks and word processing software
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • General knowledge of negotiated bids, hard bids, and GMP processes.
  • Working knowledge of PV Systems,

Sundog Solar seeks Full-Time and Part-Time Licensed Electricians to join our team as an Electrician specializing in Residential and Commercial electrical installations of Grid-Tied and Off-Grid Solar Electric systems and other renewable energy systems. Our growing company offers opportunities for advancement.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate high professional standards, a strong interest in renewable energy, and will be comfortable communicating with customers, and be computer proficient. Preference will be given to licensed electricians.
Candidates should be physically located in the region where Installations are concentrated, in coastal, island, interior and Southern areas of Maine. Candidates from New England who are interested in relocating to Maine are strongly encouraged to apply.

Additional requirements of the job include the ability to lift up to 100 lbs, and the ability to work efficiently on rooftops. In addition to having the capability to operate company vehicles and equipment in order to travel to job sites as needed, the candidate must have access to an insured personal vehicle for travel and maintain a valid drivers license.

As a Master Electrician working for Sundog Solar, your primary responsibilities will be the following:

Have a current Master Electricians license in the state of Maine.
Be responsible for the AC and/or DC side of residential and commercial solar projects.

Solar Electric Systems/grid tied:

Secure necessary permits for residential and commercial work.
Make any arrangements with the utility company prior to installation date.
Lead AC installation including: balance of system (BOS) layout, inverter installation, conduit and wiring, service disconnects, grid intertie, voltage testing, and ensuring compliance with all NEC and AHJ requirements for solar systems.
Oversee the roof mounting of solar modules by other crewmembers.
Grid tied with battery backup systems, install and connect batteries to system.

Solar Electric Systems/off grid:

Installation including: balance of system (BOS) layout, inverter installation, conduit and wiring, service disconnects, charge controllers, voltage testing, and ensuring compliance with all NEC and AHJ requirements for solar systems.
Connect solar array(s) and module strings to charge controller and then to inverter.
Oversee the roof mounting of solar modules by other crewmembers
Install and connect batteries to system

Mini-split heat pumps:

Run 20amp and 30amp circuits for Multi-Zone and Single Zone systems including breakers, emt and GFI disconnects.

Electrician should also be able to comfortably lift 75lbs, climb ladders.
Must possess excellent teamwork skills
Licensed Electrician demonstrates commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
Travel may be required

ABOUT THE POSITION:
Duties include loading/unloading equipment, staging and ladder work, using hand tools and carrying equipment on rooftops.

This will be a full-time, long-term position for the right candidate.

Roles and Responsibilities of Solar Installers:
Assist with overall crew and job site safety.
Assist the Lead Solar Installer with installations.
Assist with project loading to ensure all necessary materials and tools arrive on the job site.
Assist with overall crew and job site safety.
Assist with general site preparation and clean up

Critical Skills/Expectations:

  • Able to comfortably lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, work on roofs in varying hot and cold temperatures
  • Good communication with others and an ability to work as part of a team
  • Familiar with hand tools and basic construction techniques
  • Comfortable working on roofs and is not afraid of heights

Pay: $14.00 – $16.00 per hour

Full-Time Senior Solar Installer

This person will work as a member of the Sundog Solar team installing residential, commercial, and municipal solar energy systems. The ideal candidate has high professional standards, a basic technical understanding of solar electric design, and experience installing solar energy systems.

This person is comfortable communicating with customers and is proficient with computers in mac and windows. The ideal candidate is organized, open to collaborating with members of the Sundog Solar team, and works well with others. Preference will be given to solar installers who are Licensed Electricians and those who have completed NABCEP certification or are currently in NABCEP training.
