Co-owner of Sundog Solar, Chuck Piper graduated from the University of Colorado in 1981 where he pursued a degree in environmental studies. Shortly after moving back to New England with his wife, Teresa, and his young family, Chuck began a 25-year business career with New England Telephone, which later became Verizon. In 2008, Chuck left the corporate world to pursue his passion for the environment and bring about real change.
He opened Sundog Solar with his son, Danny, in 2009. Since then, Sundog Solar has become one of the busiest solar companies in Maine and currently employs 20 people. When not at Sundog Solar, Chuck enjoys family time at his year-round lakefront home in Searsmont. Back in the day, Chuck raced his mountain bike on the Eastern Fat Tire Association racing circuit. Now he just rides his fat tire mountain bike for fun. He also likes to play his fiddle and keep bees in his spare time.
